Because it’s the law.
Would you like it if the truck stops only sold you .75 gallons of diesel and the pump showed you got full gallons?

You can #####, complain, argue against the HOS. In the end the Government, special interest groups are behind the H.O.S and the unintentional changing the rules like they change their underwear. The old rules were in place for 60 years, than all of a sudden they decide to change the rules and can not make up their minds on the H.O.S rules. So until they (government) i guess we will be in the dark.
As to all those who run ELD's, and ##### about those who still run paper logs, because we want to cheat. This is calling the kettle black, what did you do before ELD's and were running paper logs? The same as the rest of us, unless you only got into the industry when ELD's were implemented. I guess if i go jump off a bridge, that the rest of you will follow me off the bridge. This way we can all be exactly the same (robots) and no more individuality in this country. -
"Because it's the law," that is the single stupidest reason I have ever heard to ever do or not do anything.Bean Jr. and Pedigreed Bulldog Thank this.

I and all my drivers run paper logs, and we do not break the law. You act as if anyone who runs a paper log is only out to break the law. This is funny. I cannot count the number of drivers i have seen who were drunk, on some illicit drug behind the wheel. You hear about it all the time on the news all across this country. These are the true law breakers, and have no right being on the road. My best friend was parked with an oversize load in a Flyin Hook T/S in California, and his truck hit by an over intoxicated Wiener driver. Granted there have been accidents caused by falling asleep behind the wheel, or being drowsy. There is no excuse for a driver over extending their driving ability and putting others in harm's way. I drive my ##* off, and can drive the tires off a truck, but i also know my limits as to when i need to get off the road. No, i am not a Super trucker, but i am not a stupid trucker either. I have the experience and brains to know that little piece of plastic, and human life is more important than ruining lives. Common sense is not a real trait in today's society.kemosabi49, Bean Jr., kwswan and 1 other person Thank this.

It's already getting there with those CPAP machines...if you have been diagnosed (or misdiagnosed by some company quack getting kickbacks for selling the machines), good luck getting a medical card without proof of use.Triple Digit Bullhauler Thanks this.

And it'll only get worse, until enough people have had enough of it at which point it'll take a good old fashioned truckers strike to fix, and that probably wouldn't work.Triple Digit Bullhauler Thanks this.

I just wish they'd let us split sleeper berth.
-
I have heard this for many years in the industry. I am still trying to understand how a person can sleep for a few hours and then finish out the remainder of their driving time. I know it is just me. I am sure there are reasons for the needed split sleeping.

The problem is in today's industry. You can barely get two drivers to agree the sun is shining. To many people do not worry about anyone other themselves (ME generation). Look at the CB radio issue as in the lack of those using, or even having them in the truck. Strikes are something of the past, or it is usually the Owner Operators who are willing to strike. Company drivers are only worried about their jobs, and supporting their families. I have heard the "Strike" issue for many years, and it never came to happen. Rare occasions is there ever a strike in this industry anymore.

Owner Operators should shut down or strike and force the megas wouldn't be all that hard to do shut off the fuel all trucks stop GLAD im on paper
