Don’t the walls go in the stake pockets?cke Thanks this.
-
Nope. Stake pockets and spoils are open for securement the same as any regular step or flat. They have a roller setup set to the outside of the rub rail...hence the 9ft wide outside to outside.
-
Ah, ok. I was used to calling those “curtain sides”.
If that’s a “conestoga”, then what’s this?
jamespmack and cke Thank this. -
That’s a covered wagon.jamespmack, cke, Bean Jr. and 1 other person Thank this.

Depends on the track system. The ones I see most often have the track mounted in one of two places. The first is on the outside of the rub rail, second is just below the rub rails, with hanger blocks. The problem is the frames forming the cover hits.jamespmack and cke Thank this.

A curtain side is the trailer with the hard top and rear doors of a van trailer, but the side curtain for side loading like a flat.

That's a covered wagon.

What does a covered wagon usually haul ?
-
I used to haul steel in them. They’re actually faster way to go in the steel mills. Back in, pull the tarp back and remove a couple side boards if necessary. Coil racks and chains and binders all in place. Overhead crane brings in the coil and sets it in place, quick securement, put the bows and boards back, pull tarp down. Boogity boogity. Fastest setup there is.cke, Al. Roper, jamespmack and 2 others Thank this.
