There can't be any miracles. I was suspicious of them replacing real chains.It is hard for me to believe that they are traction efficient as much either. The only reason I may consider them are some sporadic excursions over the Rockies, as I hate to load myself with all those chains for the whole winter time. If I were to travel there all the time in Winter, I think that only chains would do the good job.

I have the michelin xone line grid d on one of my single axle daycabs and I love it. I've been out in several snow storms here in new England with out a single issue. The tread pattern on them is very aggressive for wide based tire. And I got a full mpg increase from 6.5 to 7.5 when I switched from a dual setup to wide base.

I really needed them that day too. I followed their instructions to the T and they didn’t last but maybe 3 miles and ripped apart. I only had one left and it had ripped apart and tangled around the axle. I had to cut it off with my knife.Dave_in_AZ and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

Yep. I got an outstanding deal on 4 virgin XOne XDN2s for 800.00. They came off a WalMart trade truck to an MHC dealer. Nobody in my area likes super singles. I’ll use those but will only be getting the grip D going forward.Tug Toy Thanks this.

I’ve done some thinking since all the trouble I had in Iowa recently. I’ve watched some videos from Wabco demonstrating the ABS, in a bobtail truck, in conditions worse than mine, and it had no issue. If I manually engage my TC switch it is supposed to dump that rear axle, and it isn’t. If you manually engage it is supposed to last up to 45 seconds. I’m thinking something isn’t working properly. When I’m in for time off at the end of the month I’m having them plug into the ECAS and check the parameters.

Spoke with the foreman at Summit about my issue today with the 6x2. Turns out my truck has Bendix and not Wabco. Secondly, it only has the traction control software and not the load transfer system. He is going to get the part list to add it on here, a price, and call me back.
I didn’t notice it last winter because I was lucky and not in a lot of bad weather. This winter I’ve really noticed it.
I thought the load transfer systems were standard on the tag axle setups, but they aren’t. It has to be specified when ordering the truck.
