    Here we go again lol.

I’m with you Mack. Around here we call the rolling tarps a roll tite. Back in the 80’s your pic was a conestoga (aka covered wagon/rack and tarp/side kit). They were around LONG before rolling tarps showed up but for some reason everyone is calling a roll tite a conestoga now. Just google up a pic of a Conestoga wagon from the 1800’s and you can see why it became a trucking term long before sliding tarps arrived on the highways

Unlike "covered wagon" or skateboard or any of the myriad of nicknames drivers call trailers, Conestogas are called that because Aero Tarp named their sliding tarp system "Conestoga". So now any sliding tarp trailer is called Conestoga, after the original manufacturer's name for the system.

The same reason you call a rolling tarp system a “roll tite” is why people call them a “conestoga” is the same reason we call them “quickdraws”. They are all brand names.

Yeah quick draw is another one. But Conestoga was already taken though. It was an industry term prior to it being made into a brand name. Oh well

Well, I hauled steel coils in a covered wagon. I also hauled coils on a flatbed/stepdeck where you have to tarp. The speed comes in because you already have your coil racks and chains and binders out and ready. On the ordinary flats and steps, you have to set everything up.

I hauled the aircraft engines in conestogas, which can take taller loads than the covered wagons. Same setup...chains are already out and ready on the deck.

Coils are extremely easy to tarp. Easy to set up for. While waiting to get into a loading bay, you pull your chains and set up your coil rack and put your machine tarp on the deck. When they place the coil, you throw your chains through the eye and tighten everything down, secure four corners of the tarp, get your BOL and pull out and finish. In and out. Tarping aircraft engines is more difficult because of the height of the load, and you don't want to step on one. Where you would really save time at is on the delivery, where you wouldn't have to fold a tarp and put your securement away.
