Dont post much, Just read often. Basically about 3 weeks ago on feb 4, My truck was stolen out of Brooklyn, Ny. They unhooked my trailer and drove off. Being a newbie, I didn't know they steal trucks like that. So I didn't invest much into security. I know for sure they drove straight out of the state heading west on the 78. Anybody has knowledge of what happens with stolen trucks. Ive been told its going to a chop shop. Some say someone is going to run it, they ditch it. Any one ever had their truck stolen and recovered.

Used to be a show on satellite where hunters look for missing trucks from a variety of reasons.

If you did not have qualcomm or any kind of tracking on it, then it's gone. Unless it turns up overseas on the cheap by the thieves. Or into parts. Every vehicle has markings on the engine, trans etc. You can hope that eventually it will turn up somewhere.

If it's truly gone, write it off against insurance and a loss on taxes etc if applicable, police report and so on. And move on. This time if you get another tractor, put something on it where it can be tracked.

I drive a heavy duty tow truck in Texas, generally what happens down here is that they will steal the truck use it to pull a stolen load then ditch them. Typically they don’t mess with things inside the truck but they do take batteries and fuel and on occasion all of the tires. If it is located by law enforcement they will call for a tow and impound it at that point the owner is notified. Good luck and I hope it’s recovered soon, unscathed and intact.

Probably never left Brooklyn, chop, chop. Someone most likely needed a parts truck. Hope you had theft. Used to be able to park a vehicle on the Cross Bronx, if you were tired of it, they've since cracked on that. Sorry for your loss.

I don’t know more than a couple fellas personally that have had their trucks stolen; but it seems it’s one of two ways: you find it within 36 hours or no one ever finds it.

if it does not get chopped up, it gets shipped to another country, like maybe Mexico, or South America.
