Have you seen this report we already knew, that no one in the FMCSA has ever driven a truck? So you can imagine the arbitrary way they came up with HOS.

I’m Sure We’ve All Known This But It’s Just Coming To Light

During an audit that would be so easy to find.
And if that guy was involved an a wreck that owner would be so screwed, he must not have much in life he values.

Yes it would make for a bad situation. I hated to even mention it, but just wanted to show any who reads this thread that ELOG is not flawless. My wife and I own this truck / trailer as well as the company on the side of the truck. No way I would do anything to lose what we have.

Like to see the HOS changed, allowing us to stop our clock if needed.

There’s drivers on here who have ELOGs and they can edit their drive time any which way they want.

If you planned ahead properly you'd have a parking space at a truck stop or rest area instead of dangerous-as-h3ll ramp parking

Very true. We can edit our driver's ELOGS in the office.
The only problem is that when we edit a log it shows up as an edit and too many of those is a huge red flag when DOT comes around.
Say a driver is fifteen minutes from the yard and he's out of time. We'll let him run on in and just put an explanation on the log.
The word we got...and it's unofficial...is that an occasional edit or explanation is alright but a pattern of them will get you in trouble.
We've been on ELOGS for about four years and so far we've stayed out of trouble.
But yeah, everybody liked paper better.

Maybe if all you newbie 9 - 5 drivers did not park at 3pm - 5pm and take up all the spaces before the sun set. There may would not be drivers parking on on-ramps, or off ramps.

Except for the receipts, coffee club purchases, cell phone records, videos from shippers and receivers. A roadside inspector won’t get that detailed, but The Hammer sure will.
