Full review of WDS Shepherd, MI

WDS has treated me well from day one. I never have had any complaints about any aspect of the company. I was put into a truck the same day as orientation and was told to be safe and run hard. I came to this company after being somewhere that babied me and all of the other drivers. I never knew how much control I didn’t have besides holding the steering wheel and not hitting anything. I had to learn how to fuel properly, communicate with brokers, and time management. Running recaps was one of the best things I learned because I could keep running and keep earning after my clock got close to my 70 hours being ran out. I always would do 34 hour resets every weekend because we didn’t have the freight at my last opportunity.

The office staff at WDS has been amazing. I’ve went through a lot during my short stint here at WDS. The past six months has challenged me more than anytime in my trucking career and I was taken care of tremendously. While being on the road that can be very stressful on top of operating a 80000 lb vehicle. During that time WDS was always there for me and made sure that if I needed anything that they would accommodate. Everyone in the office understands bad weather and traffic patterns that could hold drivers back. I was never questioned or pressured into running when the weather was unsafe. Not once did anyone say, “Other drivers drove through it why can’t you.” They stress safety and believe in their drivers ability to decipher adverse weather conditions. If you’re proactive and communicate then the office staff will 100% take care of you and make sure everything goes smoothly. With that being said, they give you you’re space and don’t hound you 24/7. Do your job, be respectful, and they will go above and beyond to make sure your experience is great.

The shop is another aspect that can make the drivers experience whole. They keep us moving. I’ve had a few problems with my truck and I never had to miss out on loads and sit for days while the issues were handled. The fuel bay, wash bay, tractor shop, tire shop, and trailer shop you will never have to worry about lackadaisical effort. If you have any questions someone will always have the answer. Again, give and show respect and you will be taken care of at WDS.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for a carrier with a small family vibe that has consistent freight and people that actually care about your success then WDS Enterprise our of Shepherd, MI is the company for you. Run hard, be timely, respectful, and WDS will take care of you.

I’m not a recruiter and no longer work

for WDS. I care about drivers and their

    experience.

I applied with 7 months of experience. From what I understand they will work with everyone case by case. I would contact a recruiter and they would be able to help. Thanks for pointing that out.

Honestly, I came back after three weeks away. It was family related and I needed to be closer to the house.
