I posted this on another OP's thread but it seemed worthy of posting on my own too.
The regional manager explained to me outright that they try to keep everyone pretty much even, spreading the work so there are no favorites and no stragglers. Difference in income is mileage pay for seniority and the occasional extra load for a real go getter. When freight volume goes up, everyone gets more and when it goes down less. Even contractors are kept pretty equal with other contractors based on sharing volume. Not terribly motivating.
When you think about $$ it all corresponds based on position like otr vs dedicated vs regional and local. And pretty much the same most megas. So the tradeoff is $$ vs hometime and location.

See, I'm old and don't have as much go power as I used to so I wouldn't be much competition anyway, but I know my younger self would have found that demoralizing.p608 Thanks this.

I probably shouldn't share this but I have no filter.
Did you see the New Fine Arts store billboard? It says... Wait for it.... More bang for your buck.Sirscrapntruckalot, LoSt_AgAiN, drlmi and 1 other person Thank this. -
Just yesterday i was in Chicago parked in an alley off Mannheim road and this piss &vinegar jb hunt kid comes up behind me and starts yelling at me to move my truck so he could get by. We we're loading our trailer. I said we are loading we be done soon. This kid gets out and starts yelling at the top of his lungs in front of my customer shipping/receiving door. Dropping f-bombs and all kind of ghetto slang. Then my customer comes out and starts telling us dont move make him wait to hell with him.
We go behind strip mall all the time and wait behind trucks a lot.... Patiently. But this kid was just way too important for that.Sirscrapntruckalot Thanks this.
