Here you go @spsauerland , now you know how to do your business as it relates to tires:
Oh wait, I guess this is how to do it:

Sir Cranium arguing with himself again.
Now you won't know what to do.

By the way, does anyone use Nitrogen to help prevent seasonal pressure deviation? I doubt it would pay for trucks compared to regular psi checks, but I am curious.

    SAR and spsauerland Thank this.

It doesn't really matter if you have or don't have maintenance plan when truck has to be repaired constantly, and you have "those" phone calls and your recieve "those" invoices to pay.

I wouldn't buy a new truck, doesn't matter if it's Scania/Volvo/Daf/Mb without maintenance plan these days. They all have their problems, and they will break down sooner or later. It's just that some trucks are badly (or stupidly) designed from beginning, some just develop problems over time.

LOL. Yeah I'm getting worried we might have to commit him back to his old mental health institute.

He replaced the AD Blue or DEF injector 4y ago.
For the rest he just had the usual stuff.
    Aircompressor.
    Airconpump..........

Same stuff as on a old style mechanical engine.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Sounds right. Correct me if I am wrong, but thought those engines didn't have EGR or a DPF. Without proactive preventive maintenance, 450,000 is when soot, heat fatigued wiring, and drifted sensors start the toilet flush of your funds.

Daf never went the EGR way (unlike some other brands) to get EURO 5.
    That was a good choice.

    Wiring.
Yes he has had a few break, were repaired by the dealer( so no new harnesses).
Here is why the service part is so important when choosing a brand.

    disclaimer
if i was to run the truck as long as he will,i would have put new harnesses in preventive.

Time will tell if the Daf EURO 6 is as good as the EURO 5's.

    spsauerland and Oxbow Thank this.

They have DPF and some of them have EGR (MAN is an example), but the vast majority of Euro V engines didn't require EGR to comply. Also, there are a couple of makes that offers the Euro VIc engines without EGR, Iveco and Scania, and Scania have another advantage, they use fixed geometry turbochargers. All other makes use EGR and VGT (Mercedes in some engines still use FGT)

In other hand, currently in my country we are adopting the Euro V emissions and all the American Trucks are coming with Cummins engines with much better systems than those offered to you with EPA 07 trucks. Ours are DPF/SCR only withouth EGR and with Fixed geometry turbo instead of VGT. The first trucks that arrived 2 years ago with those engines have demonstrated a good dependability, especially considering they are city refuse trucks. Now, the sad part of this emissions regulations is that we have lost all the varitery, now all American brands only offer Cummins engines (until last year Freightliners came with the Detroit (Series 60) and Mercedes Engines and Internationals with Cummins ISX/ISM and DT engines). Actually the only way to get another Brand of engines over there is buy an European Truck assembled in Brasil.

I think some of our pains and financial burden in NA with our engines helped engineering on Euro 6 engines.
