I’ve been running cans out of Savannah GA and I’m just wore out. I’m only in the truck maybe 2 nights a week but the other nights when I do get home it’s late as hell and no real family time. I make aight $ as a company driver ($1500) per week but again I miss out on everyday family time even when I do make it home. I hear Good things about Southeastern Freight Lines as a P&D driver. I just don’t want to jump from the frying pan into the fire. I like container work but just looking for more daylight / family involvement time.

Every place is different. Talk to couple drivers at the barn to get an idea about work time and pay for a new driver.
Where I'm at my usual work day is 8-8:30 to 6:30-7. Keep in mind this is slow time of the year. Weekends off unless you volunteer to work on Saturday, I never do.
It is more work than containers. On average about 20 stops a day (deliveries and pick ups). Most places you pull the pallet to the end of the trailer and they grab it with a forklift or you use the lift gate.
Most likely you will not be making $1500 a week in the first year or two, but I don't know what they start you at ($20-$24 most likely). If you need the money make sure you get all the facts.
Good luck -
Great advice, thank you

That’s not bad for a container driver. When I started driving I started as a container driver pulling out of the port of Long Beach/ Los Angeles. I was making 1200 a week.
I sometimes miss the port. Now I am a tanker driver.BigHeazy Thanks this. -
Is that 1500 a week 1099
Or after taxes.
Huge difference. -
1500 before taxes and I’m a w2 employee.
Yeah it’s not bad $ , but I doubt I’ll miss the port if I move on.Western flyer Thanks this.
