Hire a local attorney to take your ticket to court. We all make mistakes. Nothing wrong with what you did, those small towns are setup to make ticket revenue. Try and find a traffic attorney that deals with CDL drivers and services the county you got the ticket in. If you can't find an attorney, take the other people's advice and try to contact the county clerk office or whoever to pay the fine for a reduced charge.

I tell this to everyone I see in this situation. I got a ticket for 66mph in a 55mph zone with a hazmat vehicle. My MVR had been spotless before this. I didn't argue with the cop or anything, just got the ticket and continued my day. Called an attorney the next day. Faxed him the ticket and paid $150 for his services. He scheduled the court date, he showed up in court instead of me, and he got my ticket dismissed because the cop didn't show. So I ended up saving $100 because I didn't have to pay the citation AND I kept my license clean.

Thanks for the replies so far, I was in Merodosia, IL. I’ll pay the fine, that doesn’t concern me, it’s just the long term effects I’m concerned about. I work for my family (3rd generation) and have already discussed things there so I don’t think my job would be at stake. I’ll start looking for an attorney Monday, that’s what I figured my next move would be anyway.

Drivers legal? They got a missing the truck route completely dropped for me; and a chaining fine dropped from $650 to $250 littering charge for me... just saying... well worth the monthly fee

I’ve got an attorney working on it, update they gave me last week was they got an extension on the court date and were working with the da on getting it reduced to equipment failure or something along those lines.

Good morning all! Just wanted to give an update, the lawyer got the ticket changed to equipment failure, total cost to me was $500 ticket/lawyer fees. Thank you all for the advice!

call them and say YOU WILL pay the fine, but for a reduced charge, light inop headlight, inop tail lite, no license plate light, etc..all they want is the money..

if the clerk cannot do anything, ask for the county prosecutor's office, make the same spiel....

I would contact the court and explain that this is your livelihood and this was an honest mistake. See if they will ammend the ticket before pleading out, 15 over has serious implications for you as a cdl holder. Other option is to get a lawyer who can try to negotiate on your behalf.

Once in a while fines paid in cash to the cashier window of the Police Station before the Law Officer that issued it had a chance to make a report to that case number... is treated as a donation to the teddy bear fund and nothing more is said.

I generally pay my speeding fines. I try to do it quickly so that the officer who issued it will see that it's closed, nothing further needs to be done.
