Seen formulas to suggest a length, saw vids that show different, people sayin length doesnt matter.....
Who then has the correct answer and how do we know that the answer is right???? -
-
That’s the million dollar question, who is correct? I have read that website a long time ago about coax length. The author attaches about a half a dozen peoples statements at the end of his article correcting him. Not a very convincing article. Got to love the guy who says your coax should be in 11 or 22 feet lengths, including your jumper going to your swr meter??? I guess you are just suppose to roll it up and tuck it away somewhere. All I can tell you is that I’ve used no particular length of coax for years, and my radios worked fine. -
Yeah i found that link and browed it quickly and just saved it..Was cleaning out my phones files and found it again..
So i just decided to post it -
OK to start with here is the first thing that stinks.
While this is true in the minds of some, it really isn't that true in reality.
Why?
Because of this ...
YOUR GOAL is to eliminate the common mode current from MOST antenna systems, exception is the no ground plane antenna.
By the way, for you and others I told a while back to get a book that is referenced in that link - "Reflections" by Maxwell. He explains a lot of things you guys need to learn about antennas and feed lines etc ... a lot of things you all miss.
Then we have this
OK, I guess he is an expert, but all my years in this, including broadcasting, I would assume someone knows that more about what SWR and all of it means.
As much as I want to believe this, I can't and the reason I can't is that he is missing an element involved with SWR itself which has more to do with how it is measured and what that measurement is lacking than the idea of using the formula to lessen the error on SWR measurement.
If you want me to explain that, get the book first and read it.Slowmover1 Thanks this. -
Trying to find the book in pdf or vid but all i see in vid are everything BUT antenna related..lol....Amazon lists it in hard cover..hate waitin for stuff..
