All I want to know is that coax length formula okay to use or is it garbage
-
Well not sayin its right or wrong but it works well for me..Analyzer shows good and range is there..

The more important question that needs to be answered is how is your antenna?
Is it in tune and working efficiency?
See coax is just one of three parts of the system, the radio is the one part but the most important is the antenna, if it is screwed up or operating marginally, then everything else is working against it.rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Antenna is fine. Just trying to find out if that formula is valid

Already got dementia. (CRS) Need detailed instructions....in crayon.

Back to the topic at hand. This guy is great.

300 divided by frequency equals free space wavelength in meters. Multiply by velocity factor to find electrical wavelength. Divide by two for electrical half wavelength or 180°......Timin770 Thanks this.

I use an easier formula.
Just use 492*VF/Frequency.
So for coax length using 66% velocity factor for channel 20 is
492*.66=324.72 / 27.205=11.9ft. Coax VF of 80% equals out to 14.5 feet.
This saves you time from having to convert over from meters to feet. -
I agree, Alan does a great job with his teaching type videos.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
