the white smoke at cold start not really anything to majorly worrying about it could even be steam from moisture build up, the smoke smell in the cab when the egr opens two options first option is that egr is leaking not very possible if relatively new, second option is the bellows between the egr and the cooler is not sitting in properly or is broken, it is a pain the in a++ to put this back with new gaskets and clamps sitting behind difuser pipe

So after getting all this work done truck been in the shop a lot and the def finially went down after like a month since it’s been sitting in the shop I fill up the def tank 20 miles down the road I get the parked regen code i don’t know why because the dealership just did a forced regen on it last Thursday before i did the regen the soot level was like 15% not even that much but anyway so I pulls over and do the parked regen after the regen was done then all of a sudden I get a check engine light with code 5394 fmi 17 I seriously hate this dang truck now

Im also going to look for software updates, I don't know if volvo updates the 2010 models.
I"m at 4th turbo on my truck since january last year, and even after inslalling new 3/4 reman motor, (but keept same ecm,), new turbo, engine harness seems like i imported an old isue. Before i used to hear the turbo spooling up quickly , more responsive, more power and was making like jet engine noise, during regen. I don't have fault codes, but seems lazy weaker, like D12, like vgt feature is not working properly .
It was pulling great a couple of times, soon after I washed the motor, I may have a harness problem, miscommunication between boost sensors, ecm, turbo.
