company drivers no more per diem 2018

I didn’t know Hugo Chavez’s ghost was running for the Dem nomination. It’s kinda wierd how you are all upset about Trump and the Republicans taking away your per diem with their tax plan (passed with zero Democratic votes by the way) and conclude the alternative is communist anarchy. The vast majority of drivers typically vote Republican and got exactly what they voted for in this tax plan. I really don’t know why you are surprised. Trickledown Economics and supporting businesses over workers has been their game plan since Reagan.

 

Looks like I did not get the deduction for them and TurboTax just ask to double check the numbers.

I didn’t like the plan from the start [from MY perspective] but it helped get our economy off of high center which was more important than anything.

As the Dalai Lama would say, just wait and see. When the next recession comes a knocking, probably sooner than most think, we wasted all our deficit at the worst time in an already good economy. Now we have a huge deficit (thanks to the tax bill for the rich) and all we are going to hear about is how there is no money left for social policies to lift the country out of Recession. Shame Shame on us for not saving for a rainy day.

 

Company men got screwed this year... buddy of mine got back $3000 last year on claimed deductions. This year he had to pay $2000 cause of the deductions

 

I was logging 5500 miles per week with my wife in 2015 and everyone I knew that wanted a job had one. Nobody I know has benefitted from this tax plan, but I don’t hang out in country clubs either so take that with a grain of salt.

 

In your first post you said you claimed the standard head of household deduction of $19,000 AND mortgage interest of $1,000 along with $3,000 in taxes.

Better make sure you didn't do both or eventually you'll be getting a friendly letter from the IRS telling you how much you owe along with a fine.

I can officially say OTR is not worth it anymore. The amount of money you have to spend to do your “job” just to lose the perdiem that made it kinda even?? I’m done with OTR. It’s so easy to spend 20 bucks a day....easy.....let’s jot talk about the water, wipes, sometimes showers, etc that we have to pay for. We are a huge organ of the United States body and to be treated like this is sickening. I’m not slaving away for anyone much less a country who won’t respect us enough to make it atleast worth our while. #### trump
