I've got some advice for any new tanker driver, don't forget to open the hatch when unloading, it happens fast.

they have one recruiter and this guy is an airhead. He don't remember you. never emailed you back. Tried to reach out to their branch manager he doesn't call you back. According to the recruiter they don't have trainers at this moment to train new drivers.Chinatown Thanks this.

I hauled a tanker, night shift, liquid poop from one sewage plant to another, 7 loads a night. It was a crappy job,
but drove a new 359 Pete. One load, it was very windy, I opened the cover, hitched up the hose, opened the valve, turned the pump on, and the wind blew the cover closed. I saw it, and climbed up the ladder, I couldn't open the lid, that fast. I almost jumped off the trailer, shut the pump off, and it almost took a crow bar to open the hatch again. A bungee cord on the cover solved that problem.

Your best bet as a new driver, in my opinion, find a really good company to work for that pulls van/reefer. Why? You really want to learn the dynamics of the truck and trailer in a variety of situations. The experience will be well worth it. Talking mountains, wind, snow, ice, etc... Find a good company that will run you and pay good and you'll make 50k+ your first year easy. Then once you have a solid foundation, get into tanker. Even a tanker load in a van handles way different than a normal load, and a tanker will be that much more different.
Honestly, you dont even need a full year to land a high paying job. I did OTR for 7 months with Magnum LTD running 3k miles a week or more, great pay and equipment. After 7 months I applied to local LTL jobs and was offered both jobs. Now I run line haul pulling dubs for the top dog in the country. 64 cpm plus accessory pay with only a year and 4 months experience, not to mention insane benefits.Mooseontheloose and Bolt Thrower Thank this.
