These new model trucks I’m seeing a lot of trolly brakes or hand brakes missing. I was trained to use it as a trailer brake checker before leaving out. Can’t do that anymore so how are people checking other than visually during their pre-trips?

A chalk to mark your stroke rods before and after should come up with the distance between the two marks. I have forgotten the exact minimum stroke and maximum allowed but somewhere in there should be legal against a ruler between the two chalk marks.

I refuse flat to drive a truck without a trolley. I don't care if they fire me I just wont do it. A trolley is part of my experience and frankly to fail to have them on the fleet trucks indicate a wilful decision by someone who probably never had to drive these things.

Right on. I’m guessing it saved money. Either way it’s one thing to visually inspect your trailer brakes. It’s another to check if they’re actually physically functioning....

Release parking brake. Try to drive, if truck don't move, release trailer brake, try to drive,if truck moves, trailer brakes are functioning, if truck still don't move, talk to maintenance.

As far as checking your kingpin, get out and physically look to make sure the locking bar is properly in place, you should physically check that anyway.

As far as the trolley valve with ABS brakes working correctly, it should not be an issue. If the ABS fails and you dont have a trolley valve I would not drive it till the ABS problem was corrected.

    Wow. Really?

Type 3030 regular is 1.5inch with 2 inch max.
Type 3030 long is 1.5inch with 2.5inch max
    Type3030 super is 1.5inch with 3inch max.

If you guys can't remember that you need to pick up a book. That should be basic information. Seriously. Kind of terrifying
