I have a 2009 tripack api today I started it for ac it ran for about 20 minutes than shutoff with engine code. I opened the cover and it was hot the truck was off all night. I checked the truck coolant it was fine. So I started the truck and the hoses for the apu cooled down I shut the truck and the apu has been running for a few hours with no problems. Is there a thermostat on the engine or could the water pump be going out?

I have a Dynasys so I'm not sure if they are similar but it has a heat sensor on the motor that could be causing it to shut down. It also has 2 fans built into the bottom of the case that is around the motor. If one of those is not working that could be why its overheating...

There is a thermostat but if the truck was off all night and the hoses were hot (I take it you have one with the Arctic package), the thermostat may have stuck closed for a minute.

ENG code will set for either high coolant temperature or low oil pressure.

Make sure the shut off valves to the truck engine are open all the way.

I believe you are correct and the thermostat stuck shut. As soon as I started the truck the hoses cooled rite off... I think I will change the thermostat and the water pump belt its loose and cracked

The water pump belt will be a little loose even with a new one. There is no adjustment, the pulley splits apart when you take the bolts off. To put the new one on, install the spacer and back half of the pulley, line up the bolt holes, then hold the belt in place while you put the front half on. Cinch the bolts up evenly, rotating the crankshaft every so often as you tighten the bolts. This will pull the belt up in the groove.

It's kind of a pain, really.

You'll also be lucky if the thermostat housing bolts aren't seized. Make sure you have a welder handy to remove the bolts if you snap the heads off accidentally.
