:biggrin_25514:This is absolutely fantastic advice. We all know it's easy to be nice when everything is going swimmingly...it's when things are going at a snail's pace, or otherwise not going how you want them to, that it's especially important to remember. People tend to remember when others exercise courtesy on a regular basis...especially when they know good and well that they may not have been the easiest person to deal with on any given day.

Talk about a good application of turning the other cheek...I just hope that I can remember when I get into this biz. :yes2557:

On flats, I don't usually have a problem with loading times. In fact, they sometimes feel bad when it takes them a while and apologize and I let them know I'm not in any big hurry. Of course, if they take too long, their customer might not get it on time, but it's not my place to be Captain Obvious and tell them this.

Ok, now that it's working again...

As drivers, everywhere we go...where always made to feel like second fiddle...no matter how nice we act or how exotic or nice we're dressed...we're always made to feel like second fiddle...

We're always made to feel like second class citizens...we're always made to wait...always made to feel that our needs are secondary...

It gets old after a while and can really effect ones morale...

This is of course only my opinion and may be "corny" but here it is.
Everyone in this industry plays an extremely important part in the economy and well being of this country. Actually if you really think about it, everyone in this industry plays an important part in the economy and well being of the world. We are the ones that make it happen. If it weren't for us goods would not be transported. We make it happen. This is a well used phrase but it's always good to remember. "Without trucks, America stops"
You will only feel like a second class citizen if you let people make you feel that way. We're all responsible for our own morales and feelings. Yes, it does make a person feel good to get an "attaboy" or an "attagirl" once in awhile. Don't hold your breath, it doesn't happen all that often. It's all about self image and self worth. If you're a driver, you're the one that picked up the freight and you're the person who delivered it. You got it there on time and safely. Those are facts that no one can deny or take away from you. Believe me, you are not second. Yes, we do have to wait sometimes, and yes people won't treat you in a way that you deserve to be treated. But disrespect just doesn't happen just in the transportation industry, it happens everywhere and you just have to be the better person, regardless of the situation. At the end of the day, it's about you and what you've done. Those other people really don't matter. Really they don't, do they? Take care and remember that you are most important. :biggrin_25519:

This is one thread that stayed pretty much on course. Actually a pretty good one.
Gypsy, here's hoping that you find a job much sooner than two years. Are you in the Columbus area? There are jobs there. Good luck!

    Gypsyroad Thanks this.
