No one touches anything at LS without first being fully insured by comp.
Truck breaks down for a week. What would you do yourself?
You fuel at a huge discount at the major chains.
If you are paid by the load, why would you get break down pay?
Here's one for you-
Do you want your cake, or do you want to eat it?
If someone can even qualify for Landstar, I can put them in a truck, and they will make roughly $100K year. $0 up front.
That kind of money is available everywhere I know, especially right now.
No camera in your face, no safety gimmick stuff, no one in your ear. Bring your pet alligator if you want.
It is not for thin skinned individuals however.
Here let's get some actual proof. Here's my available balance on my fuel card. Let's see yours.

I was fully qualified by landstar and ready to go, I just decided that with the market the way it is right now it wasn't worth it at 26%. I just couldn't see making much money, but maybe I was wrong.
-
How would you ever know what it is really like to be an O/O, at least in the BCO sense, unless you own a truck?
Your thought process is not going to be the same.
Anyone waffling around just on people's hear say that they don't even know, I would bet do not stand a very good chance. -
Im not talking about being an o/o though. It's common math though, let's say the truck grosses 200k a year. At 26% that's 52k to me as the driver on a 1099. Im currently on track to do 75k this year as a company driver on a w2. It doesn't make sense to take a pay cut.

But Dave grosses $350K......
-
He's also an owner op. And on the internet you can gross as much as you want.Texas_hwy_287, p608 and Cat sdp Thank this.
-
Why would you keep that much on your fuel card?
-
Because I can!!! LOL
There's always 5 figures on it.RoadCall, Texas_hwy_287 and Midnightrider909 Thank this. -
I currently have about 6500 on mine and I’m thinking about transferring some of that to my account because it is not earning interest there. You may want to bone up on investing. You seem to have the business side down but you got to get your money working for you also.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this.

I have other trucks. You always want to be prepared for worst case scenarios.
Most places won't take a credit card for repairs over $2500. So you full around and go the bank, spend another $30 on Uber's.
Everyone will take comchecks.
Sometimes there are lumpers, multiple lumpers, it can add up. You can get them to add the money to your card when you need it, but that may take 45 minutes.
I right one with my phone app for anyone in 45 seconds. Then agent can just add it to the freight bill later.
I ask the girl at Love's how she was going to handle my $12000 cash advance once. She looked at me with a strait face and said "Only the first $300 is free." LOLKnucklehead, wulfman75, Cattleman84 and 1 other person Thank this.
