waterjacket cooler (deverter valve) what dealer calls it .......had the electric solenoid part with the wires changed a while back but the truck has done it since new ......everyone that i haul with that has this engine has same deal with fan on a long hard pull count 15-20 sec. fan comes on not a big deal though
-
Mate i have the same problem. intake air temp reaches 72 degrees c the fan is on.

I have a 625 acert mxs with the same problem. It started about 4 months ago. Changed sensors and dyverter valves and wiring harnes and ive got to the stage where i just wanted to burn this thing. Fuel consumption is now at 1.1km/l is how we work it in Australia hauling what we call ( road trains to a 130 tone capacity).
Could not work out why its so bad on fuel.
About 4 months ago ive replaced the factory spec charge air cooler with a duralite with silicone gromets as a seal. That is when my problem started.
Few days ago i tried ( because if you dont try you wont know ) and put my old busted up factory spec cooler back on. How much worse of can i be so i tried it for 1 trip.
It worked, the intake air temp has droppd down to a working range between 35 degrees c to 58 degrees c with 128 tone behind me.
Ive read your post and i thaught i should share my experiance with this problem that ive had.
Now i will return the duralite cooler back to the manufacturer as my truck works best with the factory spec cooler.
Hope this was usefull to you. -
Couple of questions, What if you had the Air intake think it was 35-40f above the limit of making it harder on fuel but cool enough to make it want to give more fuel. Also just replaced the diverter valve sensor. Is there a way to trick it and keep the valve open and not throw codes? So the water is constantly at full flow cooling the air down more. I don't have the fan problem as i have made a habit of kicking my fan on manual when i see a hill in the distance then shutting it off as i hit the bottom. I love my 475 *cough* Mxs acert. It takes a 600 Cummins to run with it.

You can play with this sensor in the same manner as a fuel temp sensor, but it will not add fuel for what the ECM think is a colder denser air charge. Been there done that many years ago. It is a waste of time

Ok, was just curious. Not going to mess with something if it doesn't help lol.

My truck has higher air temps with the duralite than it did with the stock air to air also.
-
Are you using high performance or OEM Duralite having high intake temps?
-
I believe it's the stock replacement. I don't think they made the big cooler when I bought this one. It's a well built cooler but doesn't seem as efficient as the stock one.
