Truck shutdown April 12th

The esteemed members are going to shun all of you.

Ok, then, let's go back a tick farther, is C.W. McCall still around? He shook em up back in the day,,,Convoy,,,after hearing that song, I knew what I wanted to be. What was it, '74 the BIG truckers strike? I remember, the boss sent us out anyway.

 

It was the dark of the moon on the 6th of June.........

 

Apparently he is. 90 years old

 

No kiddin',,who's stupid now, eh?

 

I figured he’d been gone awhile now. Was surprised to see he’s still alive.

 

Well one case I personally remember, besides the strike years ago, when those who did travel had to hire shotgun riders, was a planned motorcycle helmet law in OH. So many riders showed up at the capital in Columbus to protest, they dropped the proposal. Months later lawmakers thought, well how about seatbelts. No one said a word, now you'd better better buckle up

 

Look at all the other shutdowns. What was accomplished?..........nothing

 

No wait, that was the strike of '79 I'm thinking of. I was pretty green, and I asked the boss, "is this something we should worry about"? He said, "nah, that's just for OTR drivers, now get going",,,and like an idiot, I did. I remember fuel islands blocked, but we had yard fuel, and maybe a truck on an overpass with some message on their trailer, but nothing ever became of it.
I can laugh now, trucking from my kitchen table, I don't mean to make too much fun of it, I'm done, but you guys better do something. This HOS baloney is something I could never deal with. In my O/O days, I wouldn't have made it, at least in the intermodal biz. Sometimes a can HAD to make a train, if you run out of hours, then what? I wish you guys the best of luck, really.
