Some drives refer the Cummins as a "Cumapart".....
Never had a problem with mine...it's in my T8 dump. I wish I could put it in my Pete but the Pete's harnessed for the Detroit.....
    Have you had it dynoed????

Im just not familiar with this model of engine,,, and like every one, cummins has had some not as good ones.

The N14 was the best engine Cummins has ever put out. It was one of the first that consistently made it over a million miles without overhauling it....hence the nickname the million mile engine. They do like to blow head gaskets though :/ and the celect injectors aren't worth a ####....other than that, you can't get any better.

I can tell you that a tired 500 CAT (over 800,000 miles) will out pull a fresh over hauled 525 N-14.
Or that was my experience with the two trucks.

I will tell you my tired old n-14 would out pull a 525 cat bridge motor, and wasn't very far behind a 550 cat. There is nothing to be afraid of with a n-14, the injectors are junk with cat and cummins alike. How many miles are on the engine, , alot of people are scared of the amount of oil psi, but it is a high volume low pressure system, it flows plenty. Also it should out mpg a cat driven the same way, I know mine always has. As long as its had good maint. done on it it should last as long as any other engine

if the miles are over 600,000, just make sure the heads the injectors, and the injector cups have been done. you wont have a problem going over a million miles with this motor, and contrary to what is written above will outdo any cat motor, 3406, or c series any day of the week
