If someone wants to off themselves why save them? Everyone dies eventually, the idea all lives must be saved is illogical, irrational and unnatural.

I didnt know they had to do that with burns. Did you work in the medical field at all?

There are legal ways to do that privately which involves some travel to places like the Swiss who have business for legal suicide using certain drugs for that purpose.
I am not against ending own life in that manner when the body or mind becomes something of a living hell as it breaks down beyond the ability to live.
These United States insist for the most part that all life should be protected even if the higher reasoning of a person is gone and or the body itself is truly a house of living horror. We race to humanely put down animals such as horses when they suffer very specific injuries. But we will keep a human being alive for 50 years unnecessarily.
I am actually one of those who have explored that path in the future when and if. Ive already cheated death a number of times and saved a few others along the way, when you have a relationship with God Death is nothing to be afraid of. If the body failed on the surgery table last december on full life support I would not know anything until I have met St Peter at the gate in the sky or some other situation that is unknown to us while we are alive.
Where I live we have death several times a year. Usually among the smokers too stubborn to stop. When we weed out the smokers then it becomes either natural causes of old age, failure of oxygen or cancer related causes. That will take some time.
Another part of the issue is that families and loved ones want to intubate granny in that hospital ward to the point of wiring her up to 50 monitors and say... whew. Granny is alive and comfortable. Isnt medicine grand? I think not. Ive been wired and tied down in the hospital before. And there is one overriding thought in my mind. . . .
I want out. Now. -
No. Just on the side of the #### sandstone learning as I went when someone who has been burned cannot breathe as the skin prevents his rib cage from expanding. A old hand told me to grab that snow and cover his chest a minute, wait for him to pass out due to oxygen loss and then quickly sliced the chest with a knife under each rib. Not too deep. Just enough to slit that leather that formed down each side. Once the ribcage was free to expand he continued to pink up and breathe better. The fact that he remained unconsious until EMT arrived was a blessing.

Im already a mule money machine for those that are designated by the State to be in that part of medicine (Pain Management.) I took a drug screen this morning which will come out to about 800 dollars in total billing in addition to the 250 for one part office visit and another 150 billable dollars for the other part. Basically a cool thousand dollars for me in that particular clinic which goes through 50+ per day.
Thats one reason I despise pain management. Another is the relentless breakdown of the body. They finally put me on round the clock morphine sulfate with a diagnoses that pretty much kills the plans for the CDL. But if I wanted a Class A RV license I can certainly go ahead and travel. (Ive plans to do that before i get too sick in a few years) Im not being sad, I had experienced a short indian summer these last 8 months or so. And it's been wonderful to think about the possibility of not needing that kind of expensive medical care and all the billing that eats into my insurance.
So far this year we are at 91,400 in billed charges, 43,800 in paid benefits against those charges with 3000 my charges after deductable was taken care of last year. Theoratically I can go to any hospital for anything this year and it will be free.ast26909 Thanks this. -
I sincerely hope you will be able to enjoy the rest of your days. Our medical care system is in dire need of an overhaul, at this point I think it would take a revolution to fix it along with all the problems this country is having. It's depressing I know, and I hope I'm wrong for our children sake.Lepton1 Thanks this.

I am most certainly enjoying the days. As they say that mule aint done kicking yet.
However there needs to be a reformation because if I am getting on in wear and tear etc I can only imagine millions more. Probably worse off than I am. I have been told repeatedly that I hold some advantages medically and should do very well for a while. We actually have planning going on for this summer so looking forward to it as far as travel etc.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
HA. So true.
I was thinking today about some of the people who get jobs. "What are you doing in life?" they don't answer, I am a piano mover. They say, I have to work (Insert sobstory) When people ask me I say I am either a crew boss which was a fairly recent work or am a trucker. No one can take away either part. I don't have to hire on to a employer to gain a say... updated feed status. Whoo I am a driver. Whoo hoo. (Not....)
When they go omg that's horrible, I point to everything around them in life and say that's where we truckers come in. You don't get to enjoy life without us.mjd4277 Thanks this.
