If you're worth a anything as an employee you don't have to get all the other employees together for you to make a decent living. I don't know anybody who belongs to any sort of a union and we all seem to survive just fine. The unions were neccessary in the sweatshop days, now they're pricing themselves right out of a job while driving up the cost of living for everybody else.Western flyer and gokiddogo Thank this.
-
And the reason for this is?
A.) the kindness of Pitt Ohio’s heart?
Or..
B.) to keep the union out?skinnytrucker, BJW, De Trucker and 5 others Thank this. -
I'm interested in YRC and ABF surviving even if I don't want to work at either one.
BTDT on closed shops. But their existence is helpful.
The link above was to show how unions get a foothold, it's always because of crap management. Recent article quoted business professor saying most of the business problems today are from the management sector. -
I don't understand the question? Drivers decide and they decided no union several times now. The owners take care of the guys so I guess yea out of the "kindness of their heart" or more accurately respect for their cherry picked top shelf drivers.bzinger Thanks this.

Do you really ..truly.. believe this?
Or do you think it’s more likely that, at some point in time, the company said “hmm.. it costs us less to treat drivers well and pay them more , because if we don’t, they’ll run over to ABF or YRC and we’ll end up being a training yard for those guys. Or worse yet, we’ll be negotiating a new Teamster contract every few years” -
This is the brainwashing I'm talking about " Kindness of there hearts" They don't give a #### about you You are necessity to run the business Nothing more. If they could magically make you work for nothing, they would. Go on thinking the company you work for is your daddy It's not It's something you use to pay your bills and raise your family. They are not here to help you They are here to make the maximum amount of profit off of your sweat.De Trucker and 3noses Thank this.

Yep, that's it. The truck drivers are making too much money. Not management.
-
Does management take a pay cut when drivers get a raise, I highly doubt it, they just raise prices which increases everybody's cost of living. Anybody making over 60k a year, including benefits, I would fire everybody the minute they don't show up for work demanding more money, fire all the strikers and then offer them the same job in 3 months and you can hire them back cheaper and they'll still have it made. Look at Detroit, that's what your thinking will get you eventually.
