I've ran trucks w both and it feels like the wide singles give the truck a little more stability.
If you run them on a trailer do you think they help reduce jackknife ?
Do you like Super Singles or Dually tires better ?

Michelin claims their super singles provide more stability, but I couldn’t tell the difference when I drove them in 2013. Today most new trailers come with stability control. So if the trailer detects it’s about to roll over, it will instantly apply the brakes where needed to align the truck. It’s annoying at times because sometimes if I go through curves a bit fast, it will trigger the trailer auto-brake.
To my knowledge, the fleets or people that use super singles, use them primarily for their fuel savings. I drove a T660 with super singles in 2013, and I must say the MPGs were in the 8’s. I was also driving at 55 mph.
The main issue I have with super singles is that I fear if one blows up, it can cause an accident. Imagine going 70+ on a downhill or through a curve and having to deal with a blown tire. You can lose control, or the flying tire can hit a vehicle. Super singles make more sense for people who take very good care of their tires, and even have the tools to fix them on the road by themselves.Last edited: Apr 16, 2019

i wish i could compare, but i only worked for companies with duals.

I do Duals only. If confronted with a super single rig I would not drive it. We will be either replacing me as a driver or you will be putting duals on there. (Which will not happen)
Duals is a margin of safety, there are just too many neglectful companies and drivers to risk super singles.mhyn, Dave_in_AZ and buddyd157 Thank this. -
Singles have their advantages And disadvantages.
Having a blow out would be a big disadvantage.misterG, mhyn, x1Heavy and 1 other person Thank this. -
singles for owners, doubles for companies..

Why must you continue to write in the present tense. You'd get a lot less flack if you just started using past tense when referring to driving.homeskillet and Milr72 Thank this.
