I am a first year teacher in Texas. I make a 52k base, plus 5k for teaching at a rough school, 3k for being the head football coach, 3k for being the assistant high school coach and 2k for spring football. It's not too bad but it depends on the state.

If 10 million truckers feel abused by a shipper or reciever, they are more than welcome to band together in a coop and buy the business outright. Then they can ensure the abuses stop because all of them now are part owners.
We don't have too many coops anymore. (Some, but not like it was once) -
I’ll bring the marshmallows and weinies and my osmond brothers and Don Ho records.
oh crap, that was over a week ago. I just read about it now.....
But i’ll tell ya, if i had known about we would have had a blast. -
It would take me no time at all to get bored in a class room where I did not speak the language everybody else does, took me very little time to get bored in classroom that I did speak the same language as everybody else.

What kind of heath care do you get? Pension?
I’m guessing those aren’t bad either?
Not getting that driving a truck.
Good for you, making the change. -
Health benefits are about average, many trucking companies would give you the same. I do get a pension but not Social Security and I doubt my pension will be there in 30 years, that's why I have my own retirement accounts.

I really don’t understand y someone would
Slow roll or stop on the interstate in protest just simply sit at home .. if enough did that for a week the truck driving community would have political ears... ... we really do need unity apparently everyone just accepts that non unity is just the way it is .. if that was to ever change and I doubt it will let’s face it ... it does not take someone with even an average iq to do this job therefore the vast majority will never see the light .. for those of you who have experience with the ports you may know what a longshoreman position is . These guys make 100k to 200k for basically unloading and loading ships . Why is that .. because they realized the importance and need for what they do unified and set their own price . It’s really unbelievable. 31 bucks an hour to drive cars on/off a boat work 4-5 hours and get paid for 12 ....100hr on certain ships . This is the kind of power you harness by banding together . I know it will never happen to many jacks ....but sometimes the thought on how one can really be so ignorant to not see past what’s in front of them really gets the blood boiling -
Seriously, 200k for unloading boats? And everybody wonders why the cost of living in Cali and those areas is so #### high.adayrider Thanks this.
