Is there a big freight slump happening right now or is it just my company? Things were Consistently smooth until about 10 days ago, now I find myself sitting about every other day.
Been at the same company for the past 9 months, and never had this problem. Maybe they’ve been hiring too many new drivers?

Truck orders crashed, Cass Index loadings down 14% meaning that much equiptment is sitting empty across USA's Transportation system, ships,. trucks, planes etc
The people are maxed out on credit they are not buying anything. Retail is gone. No cars are sold. IRS tax refunds are down almost 20% so there is going to be a loss in people not spending this year.
Farms are not planting this year in many areas if at all. They may not still be in existence next year. We have lost over a million calves in Nebraska and region. That means steaks are going to be hard to come by in winter and cost more. 12.00 - 15.00 or higher bacon would not surprise me what with the recent hurricane recovery affecting the hogs. Hint much goes to China.
China is experiencing what we experienced in the late 70's they have a decision to make. IF they give out free predatory credit cards to everyone then China will be the USA in the 2008 time frame. Only now Africa will have to be the cheap production for Chinas trade. When Africa comes out of the dirt 50 years from now and demands nice things who is going to be running those cheap factories? Enter south america.UsualSuspect, QuietStorm, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
That just about sums it up!! Lol All sadly true. Last week I heard a news story, JB Hunt announced that freight had slowed, and the Driver Shortage was over, that’s all they said, SNR news.I see it picking up already, another 2-3 weeks, I plan on doubling my rates, Lol. Plans subject to change.4mer trucker, x1Heavy and D.Tibbitt Thank this.

In large part, due to the China tariffs, wholesalers were stocking up their warehouses to beat the tariffs and now imports are way down as well.

"Net, net, the Trump tariffs and trade war with the world appears to have halted some of those imports at the border as the trade deficit fell from the widest levels seen since before the recession over a decade ago. Oil and cellphones and consumer goods imports fell the hardest. It is possible that some of the consumer goods imports were brought into the country in greater numbers to build a stockpile before the import tariffs took effect or grew even worse," he said
