Hello from North Carolina. I am currently in the middle of studying for my CDL permit. Been talking to a recruiter with Frontier transports, anybody have any opinion of that company?

I was in the restaurant industry for 15 years. Currently selling cars, but the I can’t stand the commission based pay and the #### customers lol. So I’m thinking about starting a career in trucking.

Still not completely decided though. I have a wife and 2 kids, so I don’t know how I will adjust not being home every night. Although the position with frontier is regional, and will be home every weekend. There is no way too know if this job is for me without just jumping in, there is nothing to compare it to.

Ideally I would like to put in a year regional and then find a local position. All local positions seem to want a year experience.

Where are you in North Carolina; there may be local positions available.
Some of us old married guys secretly want to run the roads, but to keep the peace, don't admit it.

I am in the Charlotte area. If I could get something local that would be great. I called a bunch of companies this morning that have local positions open, but they all wanted a year experience and wouldn’t help new drivers get CDL. Honestly, I think I may like it out on the road. But I owe it to my family to stay close if I can.

Thanks man. I wouldn’t welcome me just yet, but I am definitely leaning towards it. It’s something I have always considered doing. I’m just hesitant signing a year contract with this company. I would hate to get stuck with a bill if it didn’t work out. But maybe I should consider myself lucky to land a regional job that will get me home on weekends. Just hope I will get plenty of miles as well. Recruiter said and average of 2300-2500 miles per week.
