Has anybody used ELD with older trucks pre 2000 year built.
If lease operating can you use a different ELD than the carrier as long as it is fmcsa approved.

If you are leasing on, the eld you use is up to them. More than likely, they will want all of the trucks on the same system.
Intothesunset and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Pretty much what they tell you to run.
Intothesunset Thanks this. -
That is disappointing. Telling an owner what to use.

I have a 1991 379. I use Big Roads, and I like the program.
rabbiporkchop and Intothesunset Thank this. -
peterd and Intothesunset Thank this.

And are you using the data J1739 port? -
I use a 7 inch Samsung tablet. If the J1739 port is regarding the engine, then no. I have the ol' B model engine, no electronics on it. Big Roads program pings me and that how they see if Im moving or not.
Intothesunset Thanks this. -
So ELD is still Fmcsa approved without using the data port??
This is what seems confusing? -
I was grandfathered in because of my trucks age. I wanna say its year 1999 and older get in free (so to speak).
Intothesunset Thanks this.
