Unlikely. It's not as if they are legal with regards to pay. Why would one think they would be legal in other areas?

Maybe....until the carrier gets the quote from the insurance company to add you to their coverage......

They'd have to cut his pay in half to make the insurance affordable. How much profit does a driver think he generates to make a $25,000+ insurance bill worth while? If a driver is a rock star, he MIGHT generate 75,000 miles worth of revenue in a year. Divide a $25,000 insurance premium into that and you'll see it takes $.33/mile just to pay insurance. If a good driver makes $.50/mile, then a high liability driver is worth $.50 - $.33 = $.17/mile. Simply put, the truck doesn't make enough money to pay the insurance bill and the driver..
The above purely mathematical analysis doesn't factor in the likelihood of reoffending while in my truck. In other words, he's made bad decisions before and is likely to do so again but he won't do it in my truck.Last edited: May 1, 2019

Companies here will take a driver back as soon as he gets his cdl reinstated, at least I know of a couple that they have. BUT I doubt a new hire would be able to get in with them with a dui.

No excuse. Once you have a CDL drunk driving shouldn’t even cross your mind. Likely something that they do a lot... only caught once. Don’t mess with your career, call an uber.
