There's lots of excuse when you're tot'en their brand all around the fruited plains.......plus, if it lowers their insurance rates by doing so, it might lower mine when I'm insured through them.

I think the greater question that must be asked now Opus, is "Where is the good place to be?"

    I smell recruiting.

I don't understand the question exactly.......right now I'm at home, and that's a good place to be. Except that when I got home yesterday, I found that my heater was not working, and that is not a good place to be.

No recruiting for me; never have, never will. I just am happy with what I'm doing and when people ask, I tell them. For my money, Landstar is as good an option as any; certainly as good or perhaps even better than Schneider. That said, I think a person might be better off running with Schneider for a year or so until they get a feel for the lanes and rates. Here's why. Coming straight off of a company truck, you don't know if $1.50 out of Dallas to Indy is a good rate or if $2.50 from Atlanta to Orlando makes sense. If you run with Schneider for a while, you'll know better when a Landstar 'agent' offers you those loads. That's all.

I didn't mean you making the recruitment pitch.

I think your advice to OP is 100% sound.

    Check the thermocouple.

My blower motor on mine went December. Got home, was in the 30's, was going "Isn't this special."

Called a few guys, one dude quoted me a $1,000 just for the motor. LOL

So finally found a guy that would sell me one, most places only sell to contractors, for $135. He says "I can send my son over and install it for $275 including the motor."

    Done.

    Thermocouples go bad a lot.

@Bono84 Check out ATBS for your taxes. They give you an envelope to keep in the truck, you fill it with your receipts and mail it to them and they sort it all out for you.

    We all
We all have different experiences I guess. I sent the online application Apr 29, May 1st they contacted me asking for my CDL & long form physical. May 3rd received all other forms with instructions. Now all that's left are DOT inspection & drug screen which I'm holding off on until I get a little closer to when I want to start as those two things are only good for 30 days

I think you only have 30 days to complete the application, or you start all over again.
