    Video of the year.

    Such a stubborn one...

I was not sure if that one was fixing to go under the tandems on the other side. Good thing red car was there and the relative velocities not too severe.

Good on the Dad for putting the dash cam footage out there so others can learn from it. Glad no one was hurt. I'll bet Dad had a good long talk with his daughter after this incident.

Just surprised he isn't taking the truck driver to court

I learned early that semis cannot accelerate quickly and to speed up to get away from them when entering the freeway as long as the lane is clear up ahead.

Too many people falsely believe that speed and acceleration are always unsafe and will get them in trouble.

If the speed limit is 75 I can easily accelerate past the semi. Staying beside it is the most dangerous thing I can do.

The motoring public needs to continue to accelerate in the merge area and they tend to slow down even if they are going to cruise at the speed limit or above.

I bet daddy takes the T-Bird away.

I'm curious what, if any, defensive measures the driver of the truck made once he realized she wasn't going to yield. Backing down just a little bit probably would have avoided the whole mess.

Merging 101...select a vehicle and either get ahead of it or behind it. In the middle is no good.
    Staying home would have worked.

More than likely the driver didn’t see her until her car came into view in his blind spot at the merge area. And OK just signed off on increasing the speed limits on turnpike highways from 75 to 80 mph last month. Either way the truck had legal right of way,and the teen’s father knows it.
With that in mind said teenager is in hot water. Causing a major accident, riding the shoulder to attempt to get in front of the semi(which can be considered reckless driving in some jurisdictions),failure to yield. That’s a bunch of tickets right there. And since she’s under 21 they can suspend or revoke her license or permit. Not to mention her father’s insurance rates are going to go through the roof for the next 5-6 years. And that’s not including the possible litigation from the other vehicle she hit when she spun out!

But they probably increased- maybe doubled the fines for speeding.

Even 1 MPH over the limit and you are going to pay double or more.
