What have I done? I thought I would knock out one more item on the to do list as the sun was going down. Now I'm regretting it and I may have just ruined my slack adjuster boots.
I put so much grease in the front two slack adjusters that the boots ballooned up. I tried taking the grease nipples back off but it doesnt help
This is a 2014 Volvo VNM300

no problem. leave it like that. next time don't add grease to that fitting
-
You did good, you didnt blow them all out like I did when I first got my truck
-
are you guys serious? there's no way I'm gonna leave it like that...
-
ohh , no, no, no. take out the slack adjuster , take out excessive grease. that's a violation of BLA bla bla codes and big safety issue. If you will be stopped by dot, you will be analyzed*. Also that extra grease will cause brake system failure... what else can be said ? )))))
-
Now I really can't tell if you're serious or not
-
I was serious when I said leave it like that. after one hour of driving/breaking that extra grease will come out itself... no need to worry about this issue. If boot was busted I would say change the boot...OldeSkool and oranjebruin Thank this.

If it really bothers you that much to where you think it's an issue..........
Poke a hole it the boot and squeeze out the excess grease.
My 2 cents.......they are not long for the world anyhow. The Clevis pin joints look like there near frozen solid. Replacement might not be a terrible idea.black_dog106, A5¢, oranjebruin and 1 other person Thank this. -
You can slide a straight pick between the boot and actuator rod to relieve the excess grease. I do this every time I grease Meritor ASA's.
black_dog106, Dino soar, AModelCat and 5 others Thank this. -
this was the best answer... worked a treat!Rideandrepair Thanks this.
