Not broke. Cashed out after 2018. Sold both trucks and both trailers plus all my gear. I'm out.
I'm done with trucking. I bought 3 duplex with existing tenants. Property management company handles pretty much everything. And in the process of flipping my first house.
I wish I had started this instead of getting into trucking.
I still lurk but pretty much burnt out on trucking.
Good luck out there,..

I don’t know you or your history but to be honest my first thought is “lame!”. To hell with property and tenants. It’ll drive you nuts. You’ll be back trucking before you know it. I do wish you luck however.PPLC, Bean Jr., Nostalgic and 1 other person Thank this.

I’ve aleays done home improvements while Trucking. It all blew up in my face in 2008. It’s tempting now, just don’t want to make same mistakes again. Once is understandable, twice would hurt too much. Older now, hard to recover financially. Easier to take chances when I was younger, didn’t have much to lose to begin with. The big play in Real Estate was after the crash.Which unfortunately was after my crash, literally!! Lol All the cash deals I saw, would have tripled or even quadrupled with in 5-10 yrs.
whoopNride and Midwest Trucker Thank this. -
I wish you Luck, on the flip. Don’t get too picky or perfectionist on projects. Remember it’s not your house. The buyers are out to get a deal from you too. They’ll come in and change half the stuff you do.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

I speak from my own shortcomings and experience. The house I have now is still not finished, It’s the last one for Me. Soon going to cash out and downsize, and live a much simpler life.Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

I dont plan to ever deal with the tenants. Current or new. As I stated,.. management company does everything. I'm just the slumlord property owner.
And yes (Sarcasm),.. I want to live in a box out on the road, dealing with cut throat rates, and the stress of managing everything and holding it together. Missing my family and lack of time for my favorite hobbies and toys. Its so much better than sleeping in my own bed night after night. Having the freedom to make my own schedules, babysit a few contractors and listen to my family complain about paint colors and floor textures.
No sir,.. I dont believe I will ever buy another truck. My heart was never really into it anyway. I did it because I was good at it. No other reason. And besides,.. how will we ever learn anything if we dont make a few mistakes along the way.
HurstPPLC, Diesel Dave, whoopNride and 9 others Thank this. -

Well I’d say your timing was good. No ones making a killing out here right now, I’m sure you’ve heard. I’ve only got one foot in myself right now. As it is, I can walk away with maybe $30 k for my old equipment. Just not sure about investing more money into it. All the money has been made. Still not rich. Lol. Original goal 25 yrs ago, was to now have 5 Trucks and 5 Rentals. Not unreasonable. Never had more than 1 Truck and 1 house to live in. Been working on both of those things for a long time. Not complaining, beats having a boss.I just know how fast this Industry can put you in the hole. That’s why I don’t gamble. No need to, already am. Lol Good Luck, enjoy the family, I’m sure You’ll be back, Lol maybe not till your 60 yrs old, Just kidding, Good Luck
