Illinois -- 3 or 4 axle RGN trailer?

Sure they will give you 100,000 on five, but you can only load what your tires and axles are rated for. 255/70 22.5 tires will only give you about 40k on 2 axles, your tractor tandems are probably not rated for more than 40k.

 

Is Illinois known for checking that?

Doesn't matter if your permit is good for a million pounds, you are limited by:
1)Maximum posted weight limitations of any bridge and/or road. Single trip permits (should) have been engineer analyzed and route approved to exempt said limitations (by state permit offices)
2)Maximum allowable limitations of the permit on any annual or term permit.
3)Maximum weight rating as designated by the manufacturer
THE LEAST OF ANY/ALL ALLWOWABLE.

Manufacturer maximum limitations apply everywhere if they choose to enforce them. Yes, even in Illinois and Ohio.

I’ve never been checked in Ohio in 22 years, I’m sure you have but I haven’t and I’ve been through countless scales as well as superload DOT inspections not to mention random DOT inspections. As far as the rest of the limitations that’s up to the state to determine, if the permit me across a structure then I’m alllowed on it.

 

They may or maybe not check. But get in a crash and not be right your done.

It’s easy as opening the door to check drive axle rating. What is your plan if you get busted and they shut you down till you make it legal?

 

Who would plan for something like that?

Who says I’m done? There no where that I can find that says my axles must be rated. The permit application doesn’t ask and I’ve read the operations manual front to back and it doesn’t mention it at least in Ohio.

The sticker on my door is gone, you ask what my name plan is? Make it legal if I have to although I’m not to worried about it.

My equipment is plenty suited to do the job and it is legal. I’m not to interested in another lecture from someone who’s been doing heavy haul work less than a quarter of what I have so spare me your self righteous look how much money I spent crap.
