I should thank to the pizza industry for making my life easier and helping to save Deasel money and for lowering my rage to other drivers .

    A Frontal Lobotomy?

Need to get your mouth hanging open a bit more so you can just let something else shift the truck worse than you can.

Don't need to skip a gear while making a tight slow turn... Need to downshift before 900 rpm...

If I have to stop quickly my right arm still goes hunting for the shift lever.

    Let me add...

I can no longer back up a car. My wife was in tears laughing as I kept turning the steering wheel the wrong way. Also when she drives (she’s a good driver) I’m stunned at how fast 40mph feels in a 40mph zone that low to the ground. It feels so much faster. Sheeesh. Maybe going out for 3 months at a time isn’t the best idea. :D

You haven't driven in 10 years.

You have zero experience in the 2nd and 3rd generation auto shift trucks.

So you don't have to worry about getting an automatic truck.

You don't have to worry about quitting, either. You don't drive.

I drive a Volvo with iShift.

I find I get best results with a light touch on the pedal.

Mine has a "back up mode"..... I hit the "R" button, then tap the throttle and it backs up at a steady speed. I still always stop and get out as soon as I feel the fifth wheel touch the trailer. Some of our yards are dirt, and some tank washes leave the trailer cranked up too high. Have to GOAL.

Learn to use the tools your employer gives you. Otherwise, bring your own.

What's worse. Trying to back up a camper at a campground.
Every year I'm fighting getting the camper where it belongs. Bumper pull, 5th wheel, or even gooseneck one year all the same. Although 5th and gooseneck were easier.

The frustrating part is knowing I could put a 53 in there in 1-2 pull ups, but a 28 took somewhere in the neighborhood of a few thousand (at least it seemed that way)

I'm driving my first auto DT12 and I'm loving it. Flat terrain is great, stop and go traffic is great, when I come on a grade up or down I flip into manual mode and paddle shift myself. I don't like the gears it chooses going up and the long delay to shift. I manually shift it and can maintain my speed much better on my own.

I agree that there is a hesitation from a stop which sucks, but other than that, no complaints here.

Automatic transmissions do suck, but, they will be the dominant transmission in a few years.
Most Americans cannot change a tire on their car, turn on their headlights when needed or walk and chew gum.
Truck driving use to be a profession now it’s just another job.
