Hello all, I’m new to the radio game more less and help is appreciated. Like I said I’m new on the radio game so smart assed mean remarks are not what I’m looking for TIA. Ok, I have a Galaxy 929 636 Astatic and a white tornado 225 pillbox. My meter after my linear shows a 200 watt dead key. That can’t be right can’t it? I turned the radio it’s self down to about 1 watt just enough to kick the amp. But other then this I have no idea how to set everything up, thanks in advance

That amp looks identical to a Palomar 225 which should have two 1446 pills and pep to 200 watts on high, that being said , with 1 watt input from radio the deadkey out of the amp should be 50 watts and pep to 200 watts. What kind of watt meter are you using and you sure the 200 that you are seeing is not the pep, also what is the swr?

could be right if it's squealing when you key....Back off the Mic Gain...
Diesel Dave and rabbiporkchop Thank this. -
Astatic meter, and yes dead key being holding the button down and not making any kind of noise right?

What model Astatic? Sure you are not reading 20?

Yes deadkey/ carrier is keying the microphone with no added modulation.

Whats your ground like in that ride? does it have a few points for grounds? or limited to a few centrally located ones.
