There are two situations where this type of ticket happens -
The officer is a dick and looking for a violation. In this case, it does not matter that your seatbelt is off: He was determined to find a fault and he will. There is nothing you can do to prevent it. Fight it, a different story.
The second case is where a disagreement happened with the officer: when pulled over, THE OFFICER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. Do not try to give another view, they will just see you as argumentative. The time to dispute the officer is in court, NOT AT THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. That is what going to court is for.
So now, you have to go to court to fight this, or pay a lawyer to. The max this violation can cause you harm is 3 years; so is your currrent employer docking you pay over this and will having the case dismissed change this AND result in more money at the end of 3 years? THen go for it.
Otherwise: Dont bother. -
I hate it when they have to look to find anything to write you up for. You probably won't win the battle, but you sure can embarrass the cop...if you got his/her name, post it everywhere you can on social media. Tell what a piece of work this cop is. It will certainly get his attention and make him think twice about acting like that next time.

1). The lap belt MUST be snug (close to tight) BELOW the hip bones.
2). The shoulder belt is to keep you from submarining OUT of the seat if the truck rolls. (And you will; it’s impossible to brace against).
3). The SEAT is the safety device.
Rollovers are 3% of accidents, but more than 25% of fatalities.
One can also come out of the seat without a rollover. Don’t go to prison for loosing truck control. It’s not considered accidental.
Get a cast-iron corset & bra
I know these tickets sound like BS. But the stupids disregard staying ATTACHED TO THE SEAT.
Before I was out of my teens forty-five years ago knew of two loss-of-control accidents where
A) The driver cornered too sharply, the car lost and then regained traction and he wound up sliding all the way across the vinyl bench seat against the passenger door. 50+ mph. Bad wreck.
B). The second was an unlatched driver door on a 400 Firebird. Driver decided to open and reclose it on an entrance ramp. Almost full throttle. Bumped curb and he fell out. Luckily a back seat passenger dove forward to steer it into the grass. (The driver also landed on grass).
It’s like the now standard lack of space by car drivers on the highway. Pickups far above a safe speed. When things go wrong they REALLY go wrong.
Cut the risk.

Are you kidding me fdolks?
This Whole inspection stuff is OUT OF CONTROL these days!!
These DOT kids they Hire are Taught to bring out the Dead!
Those Inspectors are State employees averaging between $28-$45k per year plus benefits. Some armed-Some not.
Here is what JUST happened to me on Tuesday(Day after memorial day)
I'm crossing into Vermont on hwy 4 in Fair Haven- That Rest area/Scale Which is hardly ever open,Was Open.
Young Gal starts Pointing towrds the Parking area- So I go Park....
She Comes Running Like her pants are on fire telling me "i wanted you to Weigh...Not Park!!"
So i tell her ,"Well you pointed for me to park"
She says "No,I want your weight" But Your Gonna Park now" She says in a rude tone.
Now Keep in mind- After 30 years of experience- These Young DOT Cops dont intimidate me.
I Get a Level 2......She Found Nothing-
So What does this lil Northeastern Brown Nosing cop do- She Makes out the Report and Puts in the Section where it details stuff ":
VIOLATIONS- 392.2MI Miscellaneous traffic law violation-Bypassed the scales and checkpoint at weigh stationDriver had to be chased down.....
So I Look this gal in the eye and I say "Are you Kidding me?" I Pulled in here and Parked! Nobody "Chased me down" She Says "Well,Its Too late to change the report and thats I How I interpreted it"
I About Died..
Before I Left I Told her... " I get it,You folks are Trained to Do these kind of things" Its Not your Fault- Your Superiors Should be ashamed how well they train you and for your "Interpretations"
Good Luck to all you younger guys out there..This Business has Become Awful.NWAF, adayrider, Omega1 and 1 other person Thank this.
