I almost never get stopped at NE or WY weigh stations. I have a PrePass. It’s strange how some states tend to pull me in more than others, while some states pull me in once a year. Hahaha.

I have prepass as well and only got pulled in once that day. It was the miles of construction and hills that really slowed me down.PE_T Thanks this.

When I drive , which is about 6 ,000 per month , I drive under 500 miles in 11 hrs but I charge like I drove 1,000 miles .
Change your way of thinking .im6under Thanks this. -
I am fortunate to live where i do, a key to good trucking along with the loads and delivery windows. Minneapolis, deluth, chicago, ks city, omaha, are all day trips out and back, usually with open deliveries and no wait times.
Overnight and back just extends the radius and i can hit canada to louisiana in a 2 night 3 day turn. 4 days hits either coast.
The company does very well at bidding lanes that keep the truck rolling with full day utilization. Trailers are preloaded out and seldom take more than 90 minutes to unload. Which means we can fuel and get that 30 minute break in and still sleep in our own beds with out being tired.
I am not a genius by any means... they had a job available and i live where they were hiring.
probably the best terminal we have for drivers side of things.
It is sweetpants trucking. I dont make the most or least per mile, or annually but i do quite well annually with bonuses and accessorial pay. Its a good job.
Very much a good job because of my loacation. Many guys have good jobs but again its usually because of location and company. The combo makes a world of difference in earning potential and home time.
We dont do back hauls at my terminal or very rarely. All designed to get us out and back post haste.
And i am clueless to the cheap freight backhaul... i keep hearing about.
I get the notion you need to get home, so extra bucks is great... but seriously if you are yanking a load as a backhaul... isnt the truck next to you a local pulling the box for more money because its his primary? And if he isnt and you arent getting a full pay, off that load... shouldnt you be charging your initial customer a ridiculous amount of money to go into that area? So you can beat it home empty?
That may sound naive on my part... but then again??? Its how we do business daily so it is doable. I have often wondered the brokers are not simply skimming all the cream off the top or the megas have had this huge expansion and competatively bid themselves into the toilet planning on sticking customers later? But its been going on a very long time... on the backs of their drivers... and they just keep going.
And... worse... guys keep standing in-line... waiting their turn to get screwed... wtf???
Dont do that...

With Werner you can drive 14 hours per day and only log 7 hours by following a simple trick if their system still rounds to 15 minute increments.SteveScott Thanks this.

One time I drove all the way from here to there!

Still running paper, but the dot will only let us log 640 miles, but the speed limit is 50 and a dirt roasd, so that is a long day. But it makes the next day seem short. lol

I re-read the thread topic.
“Most legal miles in one 11 hour shift”
So if only legal miles count. No speeding, pedantically legal on HOS, no touching a line, 100% by the book, and the mileage resets with each infraction.... I think I could make it 20 miles.
thelushlarry, im6under, chimbotano and 2 others Thank this.
