So I'm trying to find the serial number for the Cat c-15 in my 05 Pete 379.
It's not the original engine it was rebuilt and a different engine was used.
Cant find any of the tags and what's left of the one on the oil cooler is not legible.
The previous owner sent me this picture. Is the 2HS38562 the serial? I havent seen 2HS as a prefix before and cant find that anywhere

Its not 2hs, its 2ws and yes that's the serial number
spsauerland Thanks this. -
Ok looked like an H to me
Thank You -
2ws is a 1999 engine. You will be ELD exempt with that in your truck.
EverLuc Thanks this. -
It has twin turbos, so that would make it an acert correct?
Acerts were made after 2000? -
If it's got 2 turbos then it's not a 2ws. Sounds like you got a bunch miss matched parts on that engine.
Accert twin turbo started in 2005. Same year as your truck. But your spacer plate under your valve covers says 2ws so who knows.Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this. -
That's what I was thinking too.
That tag isnt visible anymore so I will try to see if I can find it etched in the block to see if it's actually say 2ws.
It is definitely a twin turbo and has the iva/vva -
Take a picture of block/ sculpted vs non. Think block stamping or plate should be passenger rear on block mid height around #5/#6 cylinder.
-
Once block is out and different head is used, adios serial number. You may find a serial number on the block....maybe.
-
I just typed that ESN into sis web and came up as 3406E which should not have twin turbos I guess you could use a 3406E block and install C15 parts on it same engine basically.
