I used electric tape to test mine, got the same results. You must really have to hit brakes hard to set cameras off, because in 4 years I never had hard break set it off. Most recent truck lane departure would set camera off if certain sequences occurred. I put electric tape over red light that flashes when recording, I personally think that’s a distraction when driving at night.

I have a friend who used to work for a company that had driver facing cameras. They called and asked him what was wrong with his camera. He just replied "how the heck should I know? Them things aint got a switch or anything!" They said they'd route him in to get it looked at. Oddly, it worked fine at the shop. I know a better solution to the whole driver facing camera conundrum. If my company, even as much as I do like working here, told me to take this in to have a camera installed, I would just make sure none of my stuff was in the mechanics way when he installed. Cause all of my stuff would be at the house. I just will not drive a truck with one in it. Not OTR anyway. I live in that truck. They know that. Now, if I was at a local job, and only had the camera to deal with while I was on duty, I would. But I will not have a camera I do not control in a truck while I am off duty. Their assurances that nothing is recorded unless there is an incident do not fly. They get 70-ish hours of my time a week. I already have to log all my off duty time....enough is enough. My time is my time. And I will not share it any more than I already have to.

That’s just whack. I’m not going to quit a good job because there’s a camera in my truck that only activates in an accident. There’s no invasion of privacy. And since I don’t drive distracted, all that camera will show in an accident is me driving the truck.

it all depends when the reviewing company who they send the pic camera when it triggers itself to depending on which brands are using reviews and decides it's worth letting you know..
I slammed the pothole in a customer's parking lot looked up boy the way that truck fell into the #### thing it was like wow look at that the green light went to Red I knew it was recording month later never heard nothing about it cuz apparently the last eight seconds basically didn't show me playing with the phone or goofing off just falling into a pothole at night time nothing I could do about it..
I have seen the red light go off one time on a hard break I had to really jam on the brakes suddenly had no choice when does airhead whipped right in front with no warning the good news so I wrote it down on a piece of paper documented it... couple of weeks later nothing apparently they must have reviewed it at the revealing company when the red light triggered and it recorded and simply the bottom line was no nothing you could have done about it you took all evasive safe action.. we could clearly see this airhead whipped right in front -
Yeah, I’ve been driving with cameras for the last four years and that’s been my experience, too. But the paranoid drivers are gonna be paranoid, aren’t they?

You are correct, and in every other state which is Exactly why the sock test doesn't jive with me. Cam activity is often monitored by a 3rd party that would flag the cam for no view, and the sock test just doesn't make sense with me.
