    Does this happen to you?
I can drive outbound 12 hours drop and hook, sometimes I will sleep right there, just a couple of miles out, sometimes 100 miles out.
It doesn't matter I can fall asleep within minutes of my head hitting the pillow. On the return trip, depending on where I slept I will be driving some where between 9 and 12 hours, generally getting in between midnightish and 2 in the morning, and be wide awake till 5 am or later, knowing I will not sleep long in the daytime.
this is new for me, it used to be I would go rightto bed.
Years ago I would sometimes get too tired to sleep, and could drink one beer and sleep like a baby, maybe I should take up drinking again, except that I am not tired when I get home for some reason. I can be tired, but as soon as I get out of the truck, I am refreshed for some odd reason.
    Anyone else have this problem?

Naps are a thing. Just go down for 30 minutes if you'll fall right asleep. Just make sure to have an alarm.

Not sure what you are talking about, I am not wanting a nap, I want to sleep, if I could fall asleep I think I would stay asleep for several hours.

You get that rest. Leave the alcohol alone.

Yep. Trucking is hard on the internal clock.

Personally, I get tired at around 0400 and 1600. I try to set up to break at 0400 (I'm the night driver, team with my wife) but I get aggravated most days because I feel exhausted after we change out about 0800 and I go to sleeper but I can't seem to go to sleep, or if I do, only for a few hours.

One thing I've found that helps is Alleve. It's just a NSAID like aspirin but it really relaxes me after driving.

Basically, after sitting in the driver seat all night, my body is sore but I guess I'm used to it and don't really feel it. Still, the soreness keeps me tossing and turning if I try to sleep.

If I take 2 Alleve, I'm out and wake up feeling really relaxed, like I slept a lot longer than I actually did.

My problem could be night driving. All my life I have been of the opinion youare suppose to sleep at night, though I would always run well past midnight usually. I have just gone back to this type of driving and it is all at night. I just can't understand why I can be asleep as in ten minutes or less on the north end, then come back, where I should be tireder, and not even think about going to bed. lol

I don't know what to tell you.

There are two kinds of tired Ive learned from trucking. Tired of the BS of whatever the situation is and it's going to get changed, even if I quit or get fired. It be changed for the better.

The other kind I consider more dangerous. If I have to take ex to the VA for example and she has a appt in the morning, by the time we get through everything it's 5 PM and little rock rush hour to fight. I usually get a strong lunch protein and coffee. By the time I am ready to drive in the rush, my body has taken care of that and energy is online.

Only temporarily. 2 hours at best. I expect to have her home in about 70 minutes. Because anything after that time period there is a real risk of being over tired just like trucking with that white line fever which is the worst.

One time I had about 200 miles of Wyoming to go. The truck refused to stay in it's lane. Found a drift of deep snow. Made two snow angels in it. The motivation I took to make the second must have been the Archangel Michael or something because I was awake for that time required to get into Cheyenne which was a goal for that day.

Today I live a strange life. It's 1 am and Im wide awake. Forget the sleep, finished that early today. Only temporary. Around 4 am I expect the body clock to essentially quit and more sleep pending.

    Rideandrepair Thanks this.
