How about if we don't let them begin...
rookietrucker Thanks this. -
I have a trade mark on it, it also has a copy right and its registered
...but as long as you give proper credits for it I guess it would be ok..tex88 Thanks this. -
I can only speak for my husband as far as leasing a semi and that was apparently he had temporary insanity at the time he decided to lease a truck. He leased from CR England needless to say we are in the class action law suite that has been going on for years. I don't trust lease programs they are set up for the company to make money not the driver at least that is what happened in our case. I would not recommend leasing a truck based on our experience.
I think if you can find an honest company it might work or if your single and can live in your truck. I am sure there are a few good places to lease from best advice I can give is research the companies and try to get all the info you can before you commit yourself to a lease.Baack, davan2004 and Owner's Operator Thank this. -
The best advice I've been able to offer with what I know was to look into John Christner's and also into Prime. I believe I saw a positive somewhere with regard to Christner and I've heard very few complaints about Prime. Any input on either of those?
-
Why don't you just buy a truck outright?
-
There are whole threads complaining about Prime's lease. "the math gets done" among other thread titles.
There are others that say it's ok when you BYOT.Baack Thanks this. -
If you are a trucker just starting out: stay away from a fleace! Give yourself a few years of experience first.
Worst combo: CRE golden fleace, new truck which you overpaid for, ULSD with poor mileage, Mexico made Freightshaker, hauling heavy, uneducated driver. =no wonder why so many fail.
You can get a good truck for $30-40 k easy now on just about any lot. A savy driver can get a great truck for under 25k and get 7mpg+. And have it paid off in under a year easy. A good driver and truck can easily hit a million miles or two with it.
=those dirty beat-up well cared for trucks (that are paid for) are usually the guys making the most money and sitting at home. -Not CRE or the Prime fleacers --> unless you enjoy living in your fleace that is not even yours (yet).Owner's Operator and davan2004 Thank this. -
or you can do what smart businesses do all the time, lease their assets, never own then, always have full warranty, and newer equipment. I lease my truck, will never own it, don't want to at this time, but that may change in the future, and if it does, I will go down and purchase a used truck from a dealer, not thru a company lease purchase option.
too many people go into trucking believing the pie in the sky dream, and not the reality that it is a job, a lifestyle, and is not easy. I love it, even after that bad weeks.charlie240 Thanks this. -
Leasing only works when there is enough revenue to overcome the expenses of the business and provide a profit for the lease operator.
In the current economy it is difficult to get enough miles consistently to stay ahead.
Lets not forget, with a carrier lease program the payments are due each week and are deducted from your settlement BEFORE you get any money for yourself.
Another way to look at it is; each week you start in the hole to the tune of 1500 to 2000 bucks (or more in some cases). This will cover the truck payment, fuel cost, insurances, maintenance fund, escrow, etc. Once you satisfy all these "costs" THEN you get to start paying yourself.
In the event you want to take any time off be prepared to play catch up for a while and may even wind up with "negative settlements" which means you OWE the carrier money.davan2004 Thanks this.
