Truck Driving in Afghanistan

And yeah, the more I think, the more I'd say you wouldn't want to be a truck driver in Afghanistan. Not if you're an American. There are a lot less US Forces there now. Even when there were, they weren't every where. Between the Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS now, and the corrupt ANA and ANP, it won't work well for you. You probably won't have to worry about IEDs on base, but you'll be spending a lot of time in the soak lots. Anything can happen in there. A soak lot is where they keep trucks for 1-3 days, incase they are VBIEDs. They'll blow up in the soak lot instead of on base if they are timed. And those are massive explosions. You can hide a LOT of HME in a truck.

That all said, I don't think 6 figures is worth it to be a truck driver there.

 

Pft, those things were a godsend, but we were living primitive for 8 days out, 2 days back.

 

It's TRUE but good luck with getting hired. I'm a combat veteran and haven't been able to get over there yet. I made the job description fit in my resume and still never got a call

 

How long ago did you get out? I only ask, because a lot of the companies out there want people who were in within the last 5 years and/or hold a current security clearance. Those things are expensive to get.

 

Wait .... i thought you already made a lot more than low six digits?

I think that may be the issue if you're applying for a position that wants veterans. They want more recent ones that still have adjudicated clearances because it saves them boatloads of money. I think a secret clearance investigation costs around 60 grand.

 

Shoot man I gave up once I started getting my disability. Plus I'm still able to work. I have no complaints about life right now
