ok guys. so i jumped in my cousin truck for a week to try flatbed. i do containers. been out few days. only 1 issue. i tighten strap as much as i can. but when i go for that 1 final click to give it that piano tug if you would. i cant do it. so my cousin ends up doing it. any help on this before i try and go flatbed. like would a bigger or longer bar help? idk if i can go to the strap step before the piano tug and stop there. trying to be 100%. unless its just me not having enough strength which means i gotta work on that......thanks

Surely you are strong enough to put your weight on it. You may be trying to tighten them too much.
Try bouncing your weight on it, and if you can't get that last click, then that should be good enough. -

Some people just aren't built to have an easy flatbed life. Usually short and stocky (brute strength) or tall and lean (superior leverage) guys do well. That doesn't mean you can't do it, just means it will be harder for you than it is for us.
A longer bar could help you gain the leverage, or you can bulk up, or even eat so much you gain weight, haha. But seriously, pansies and those that can't adapt don't survive flatbed, so you gotta figure it out.DonDadda, 4noReason and LoneCowboy Thank this. -
Ive never done flatbed but isnt that why you stop after the first 50 miles or so?? Get the staps/chains tight as you can at first then get the last click or one more link after the load settles a little bit??

With a big enough bar, you can move the earth. Where were you during science class??

ya. i think its more im not gonna survive the road more than flatbed. going from home daily to out is depressing me more. gonna try it till end of week

You got to get them all tight first- 50 miles later you get them tighter yet on a lot of products. If its not tight in the first place, going to be pretty #### loose by the time you stop in 50 miles. -
Always remember to fully insert the bar into the winch. I used to have the bad habit of just using the tip for a little more leverage or just a little better angle...broke the tip off last year on a real cold morning...lucky for me...the ground broke my fall...

you could use 2 winch bars combined if you really want that tight.
