I cant think of one thing that is confidential that you will deal with company wide other than a High Value load... and it will be a while before they trust you with one of those...

BTW We've had a couple get stolen the last year or so, and its always been sheer stupidity on the part of the drivers not following procedure... especially stupid when your fleet manager goes line by line with you on the procedures before you even leave the facility, and you cant even go 10 miles without breaking them.

When I drove for Prime 19 years ago they were losing trucks in the NE...seems that it still happens. They had the best trailer locks I've ever seen, even back then, but you can't put a lock on stupidity.

Can't say for sure since my orientation was in Springfield MO - they have a company-owned place that while it wasn't new and fancy, isn't bad. The same should hold true for Pittston.

Yes - all meals were provided by the company at Springfield, so I assume the same holds for the Pittston terminal. It was 3 basic meals per day, your choice of what to choose. If you go over the basic cost allotment, then you pay the difference. Make sure Bill has some cash with him - it makes life a lot better when you can go down to the convenience for whatever! BTW - if you have any concerns here, call his recruiter but be prepared to sit on hold for as long as it takes. They're even more slammed than they were before the economy died.

Honestly, Prime is a lot classier than that! He won't need to pack and leave until the situation is such that he needs to pack and leave! That being said, he will be on the hook for the hotel bill after orientation is over. He can have that charged to his truck account (along with necessary gear he'll have to buy) and have the costs spread out over a number of settlements.

It shouldn't be. I was there a few weeks ago, and it seemed to me there were about a dozen sitting in the lot. It depends on the day... Prime receives vehicles (new and turn-in's) every day, and checks them out daily as well. If the number of drivers waiting exceeds the available trucks then he may have to wait a day or two. Unlike many trucking companies, Prime is well funded, so there isn't any of this waiting for a month or two crap like some places - as far as I have heard!

Nope! Any "local" loads are farmed out to whomever is available - usually with the promise of a better than average load following the local gig. That's what they've always done with me, and that's why I was at Pittston a few weeks ago... pick up a local for the am with the promised preplan sent before I left the receiver.

Iron Pony thank you for answering our questions! We think Prime is going to be a good place to work. I have always thought their equipment looked top notch and from what I can gather, the company seems to be the same. Your input is greatly appreciated!

Actually they don't have a restriction, there's a secure lot to park in, but why? Are you planning on moving to Springfield? It's not like you're going to be spending a lot of time there.

Well here's the deal... during training you'll be there about three times for not long. There's a shuttle (not the most convenient thing) that will get you where you need to be. Other than that - you don't want to be in Springfield. Even at the best of times its hard to get a load out because of how many drivers have to be there. Once you get in your own truck, there'll be no way for you to get your personal vehicle home.

I hope for your sake they've changed their stripes from long ago. That's the company that ran me into the ground. I quit trucking due to that, and the accumulated tickets that they won't pay. I won't go into details of all the other things they did to drivers, because it's been a long time.
It seems that I saw someone posting that they were being run pretty illegal still, but I'm not sure which forum I was in. Talk to some drivers.
