Go to sprinfield PRIME is not hiring if you already have a CDL you must go through their school and training in order to work for them at this time.
-
I second the Prime idea. Good company. Good training. Good equipment.

Decent training....HORRIBLE company! But driver opinions vary, as you see posters above like them and I know dozens that dont. I wont go into a long story, but they are almost as dishonest as JB Hunt!

Do not lease a truck!!!!

This was posted a week ago! and is not true! I already have my CDL! I got an offer from them last week! I'm suppose to call tomorrow for my bus ticket! I got other offers so im not sure if im going! Will tell recruiter if im still coming or not!

A friend of mine just got called to go to orientation and he just got his CDL on Friday and not at Prime.

I didn't get my CDL from them either and I attend oreintation when Im ready. I hope I'm making the right decision by going with them. It's either them CRST or Trans Am. Trans Am has a hold on oreintation right now and I need to get to work. I've heard to many wicked stories about CRST so I think I'm going with Prime. Does any one know if I need to bring my own CB? Also how is the freight moving right now(how many miles per week).Thanks.

Contrary to didntitellu Prime is a good place to work. I'd say you're making the right decision. I've talked to a number of TA drivers who aren't even getting 1k per week. That's my low too, but it was a week they were routing me home over the Easter weekend - double whammy. Miles are really variable, and depends on where you are at. I've been running NE and East Coast, and getting in the range of 2k - 3k most weeks. Pays well with fuel bonus. Worst is getting nailed empty in MI or OH. You can end up sitting there. Sat in AR too.
TA has been cancelling orientations as well, so you might get screwed if you go with them. Never heard anything good or bad about CRST firsthand, but they can't be doing well since they are mostly dry van.
There are a number of pieces of equipment you'll need to purchase after orientation - locks, load locks, and you may as well get a set of chains/cables too - had some folks shut down in CO and WY last week. Bring your CB, they aren't provided, and it's better than walking back and forth over to the receiving office waiting for your bills.
BTW - it is a bad time to do the lease op deal... solos are having a hard time, but lease op teams are doing better. Company solo and teams are doing great. It's easy to change to lease later on... very hard to go back to company after the change.
Good Luck!Last edited: Apr 22, 2009

Thanks Ironpony. I definately wont be leasing. Would I need to purchase chains and locks if I am a company driver?
