6 months on , 6 months off... any prob. On rehire

Just don't tell them that during the interview. Turnover is apart of the industry. When you're ready to go give them a month notice and tell them that you would will be back in six months and they will be your first call

 

Many places have busy seasons, and slow seasons. If you can find one they will probably be extremely happy to have you take 6 months off, but come work when it's busy. I have two drivers who do exactly this, and it works perfectly. This year they started in early May, and will work till slow down, usually early November, then take the winter off. Look at gravel, fuel, water, building supplies, equipment moving, those sort of hauls.

 

my brother in law retired from his teamster job.
he sailed his boat to mexico
when hurricane season starts in april or may he hauls his boat out at the secure San Carlos yard and after maintaining it. he comes up here and drives cement mixers until november and then he drives his 4x4 back down the Baja.
he is 70 now and has a 2 year dot medical card.
he decided he cant drive anymore but the cement mixer company was calling his family trying to get him back to work
