Gotta question here. Long story short. My wife is goin back to live full time on our farm in the Philippines. Me I'm gonna try semi retirement with 6months on 6 months off.
Been drivin 15 years, all otr van flat reefer some pneumatic years ago. Thinkin the oil fields might be the place to go. Kinda sick of produce and california every other #### day !
    My questions...
Would this situation be frowned upon ?
If I go this route should I just get up there for box or water just to get the oil field experience ?
Kinda leanin towards Wyoming , ND , CO
    FROM APR TO OCT.
    Any advice is appreciated.
Btw 56 years old ex fat ####### now in good shape and I dont mind hard work. And yes money is the key reason. Otherwise I'd just bump docks 6 months outta the year.

    Thanks

Just don't tell them that during the interview. Turnover is apart of the industry. When you're ready to go give them a month notice and tell them that you would will be back in six months and they will be your first call

Many places have busy seasons, and slow seasons. If you can find one they will probably be extremely happy to have you take 6 months off, but come work when it's busy. I have two drivers who do exactly this, and it works perfectly. This year they started in early May, and will work till slow down, usually early November, then take the winter off. Look at gravel, fuel, water, building supplies, equipment moving, those sort of hauls.

my brother in law retired from his teamster job.
he sailed his boat to mexico
when hurricane season starts in april or may he hauls his boat out at the secure San Carlos yard and after maintaining it. he comes up here and drives cement mixers until november and then he drives his 4x4 back down the Baja.
he is 70 now and has a 2 year dot medical card.
he decided he cant drive anymore but the cement mixer company was calling his family trying to get him back to work
